Merry Christmas!

That time of year again where we have to find and book somewhere nice for the annual club dinner (weekend). Amy and myself have been delegated as organizers. Amy has done most of the leg work so far, but we now need some input from others;

DATE: We are focusing in on the weekend of 21-23rd Nov. This is strategically two weeks either side of the Nov/Dec winter club meets. If anyone has any problems with this date please let us know.

LOCATION: We have a few ideas on location but if anyone has any other ideas, please let us know. It should be between 1 ½ - 3 hours from Glasgow, accommodate about 30 people (preferably bunkhouse and hotel bedrooms accommodation), near some hills and preferably our own dining room for 3 course meal.

NUMBERS: Could you please confirm (by forum or email) whether you will be in attendance and whether you will be bringing along any partners or friends. Without this info, we cannot book anywhere!!

Hi all

Thanks to Gordon for posting this. I have already called several places between Glasgow and Inverness and a lot of them already have bookings for that weekend and could not fit us in.... :? :?

Therefore we need to book somewhere ASAP. Feel free to email me/us with ideas or post on the forum but we should book it soon.

Enjoy the barbeque weekend, I have just come back from Italy and Ireland and I am off to Holland this weekend. :D :D :D

Hullo,

I'm free pretty much any other time but I definitely can't do that weekend! Ah well. Hope you find somewhere :D

Doesn't surprise me that you are having trouble finding somewhere that is free on those dates...the closer to Xmas the more problematic that will become. Maybe Oct would be better.

What about the four free weekends between the Strawberry Cottage (3/4 Oct) and Auchope (7/8 Nov) meets :?:

Scott,
I am happy to do whatever people want with regards to dates but I need confirmation!
Does anyone else read the Forum and if so can they please email me or post here with any thoughts and ideas. I need numbers as soon as possible.

Amy

Worth mailing the club list although there are quite a few folk not on it.I`ll have a think about locations when I get a moment`s peace and quiet. In the meantime count me down as not going.

We could maybe ask the langside club if they would be up for sharing the Kingshouse....I think they are booked for the 14th/15th November. They usually have a band fur the dancin`an`that :D

Oh...do they still have a bunkhouse there :?:

Hi Amy,

The date in November is fine with me, or can do the weekend before if that's any better. Before that am tied up with assignments for uni. Sorry don't have suggestions as yet for where, will have a think.

This is a cracking location. It has changed hands since the old days though and gone a bit upmarket which is reflected in his prices.
I was there in 2006 camping and the staff were very friendly.

When I enquired about 6 years ago they offered to give us the village hall for dossing in...complete with showers etc.Camping was allowed on the village green for anyone wishing to do so. Whether that has changed I do not know.

Remember that the price you see is not the price that you pay for a block booking in November.Ask him for his best price and then say you`ll think about it and get back to him as you are still waiting on a few other hotels to reply :D

Here`s an example of price reduction :D

The Moorings Hotel in Fort William advertise a price of £49 pp b&b for the off season.

The Ochils MC have negotiated a price of £45 pp for dinner dance and B&B and a rate of £25 for B&B on the Friday night.Admittedly they have booked all 55 places but it gives you an idea of what you can negotiate, especially in the current economic climate

It`s worth a look round the various club sites to see where they are going and how much they are paying....

Hi Amy,
Please put me on the list for the club dinner. If I come up with any realistic suggestions in terms of venue then I'll post them up. Otherwise, how about the Cross Inn in Gods own country of Ness, Isle of Lewis? That'd be cool just a wee walk from my house and only two miles from the Butt of Lewis, (no, it really is called that!).
