Now that I`m free again I`m thinking of getting out midweek for short day trips.I`ll be tied to 4 or 5 hours most days with the dog so will probably head to some local Marilyns and trigs.
I`m thinking of bagging all the trigs on sheet 71,the Lanark area ...some cracking wee hills involved as well as some sitka nightmare ones 8) Am open to other suggestions also.
Will have the opportunity for longer day trips as well maybe once a week.
I`ll be in the pub on Thursday so you can all form an orderly queue in there

Managed a wee jaunt last Friday with Jools :)

Years ago I had bagged what I thought was the Marilyn Dungavel Hill.I only had a handwritten list in they days of the hills.Went up through the forest on my mountain bike and had a horrendous time trying to get through the sitka plantations onto the summit plateau. It was weird hearing the prisoners in the jail down below out playing football in the exercise yard of the old Dungavel prison

Anyway,I was plotting the Marilyns on my mapping software a few years ago and noticed that there were two Dungavel hills and of course I had been up the wrong one :? Put this wrong to right by bagging the correct one this time.A quick 600 foot jaunt from the high point of the road sorted it out.It had been a lovely morning in Glasgow but unfortunately the cloud was down about the tops by the time we got there.

Cowpit trig.......bovine ned posse responsible for the damage....

We passed a pleasant hour by having a gander round Roberton inspecting an old church that was up for sale. Also, another cracker of a mill conversion which is the best house I have seen for ages 8)

Might go down to bag a few Donalds tomorrow near Leadhills :D
