You either know how to do it or you don`t . I`ll assume if you have got this far then you fall into the latter category .

The pics need to be hosted on another site in order to save paying for web space. There are plenty of free hosting sites .If you don`t know of any then try registering with Photobucket.

ImagePoster is integrated into the forum. You will see "add image to post" at the bottom left hand corner when you are posting.

This the easiest option if you don`t know how but it gives the worst results. It squashes your pics into a square shape and requires a new browser window to open. This is currently giving Scott some problems with his machine.

Photobucket gives better results by linking the image directly into your post.Have a look at my "Tale of Two Corbetts post to see.For the sake of a nice tidy forum I`d rather you upload them this way. It`s your choice though....whichever way you find easier.

You need to register an account with them first.I have registered a club account to save you the hassle.Mail me and I`ll send the password to you.

Upload your pics to their site by browsing to the location on your hard drive..Keep them to a reasonable size...about 60 kb is plenty.

When they have uploaded you will see that below the image there are three or four boxes.

On the bottom box that is preceeded by "img" copy this code. At the point where you want to introduce the image into the body of your forum post click paste.

And that`s it  :

Any problems then just ask me.....

It does indeed work and a mighty fine pic it is too. :D

OK.....now that you have done that you will see that the pic is wider than the screen. It`s 1024 pixels wide.

When pics this width are posted it makes the text disappear off the screen to the right.

You have to reduce them in width to about 600 maximum to keep it in context.

You also have to reduce the file size. The pic above weighs in at half a meg meaning that Martine and others on dial up will be waiting about 2 minuites for the page to load :D

If you can keep them under 100kb that would be good..!!

I can give you a wee programme that does it automatically if you want.

Panoramic pics also have to be kept to the same width......are you listening Gordon....!!!

I have resized the pic below. Now have a look at the Torridon postings and see how you have to scroll across the page to read the text...

Image

If you right click on the one i posted above and select properties...you will see that it`s less than 10 times the file size of the original one.Don`t worry about it....everybody has been through this..!! :D
