Hi Gavin, I have finally infiltrated....Hope I haven't given you too much of a scare. But hey, you are my brother in law ish so I thought I would get away with it. Also I'm staying in your house from the 19/12 (you may or may not know this). So... the winter solstice... can I come too? Edi told me it is generally very hard core with at least a 7-8 hour walk in so I've been putting in a bit of training in here in the Pyrenees. I'll pack my woolly socks. Oh and before I go what has happened to these sport climbing photos of you and me, with me whooping your ass here in the Ariege on some sound granite?. Why aren't they on the website?. Maybe your quote of 'Now my humiliation is complete' has something to do with it! We have just started to open a new granite crag with what we hope to be 30-40 routes so if you don't mind those shiny things sticking out of the rock you must come down in the spring and have a look.
So looking forward to being pressed against anything warm ( well almost) in a cold tent for the WS...if I'm allowed

I believe he has mentioned it a 100 times or so......
Now you're just trying to get me into trouble fester!
Donna ... it would be great if you came along. It's not as hard as someof the 'morally weaker' members of the club imply that it is! It's always a jolly lark, even in the worst of weather.
'The winter solstice occurs at the instant when the Sun's position in the sky is at its greatest angular distance on the other side of the equatorial plane from the observer..... Worldwide, interpretation of the event has varied from culture to culture, but most cultures have held a recognition of rebirth, involving holidays, festivals, gatherings, rituals or other celebrations around that time.'
...Where we going? Anyone got any ideas? Not sure if my wee lightweight North Face Tadpole tent will stand up to the elements. Anyone got any space in their tent?

Hi,
I'll not make it to the pub tomorrow (staff night out, don't-cher-know), so I need a list of those wot are keen, like.
So far it looks like:
Me
Donna (Edi's sister)
Brian
Martina
Gordon
Adam
Steve Wells (possibly)
Unfortunately Steve K and Dom cannot make it on Saturday night.
If we are 6, then we'll need three tents. I can provide on quasar, and no doubt Brian and Martina will have the Voyager thingy (or perhaps the ultra light?). I can perhaps find another tent ... I may be able to borrow one from Edi.
We will probably head up the A9. If Brian and Martina alter their plans (not unknown), then we'll stay locally.
It's a bit far off to predict the weather accurately, but it does look it might be 8 degrees at sea level with rain on the north-west coast … wind speed not yet known, but could be ‘brisk’.
The scene is set - a dark night, cold wind blowing,
campfire flickering, stars twinkling in the dark sky.
Three hang-glider pilots are sitting by the campfire,
one from Scotland, one from Seth Efrika and one from
New Zulland. Each embroiled in the bravado for which
they are famous.
The night of tales begins...
Kiven the Kiwi says, 'I must be the meanest, toughest,
heng glider therees. Why, jist the other day I linded
in a field and scared a crocodeale, who came out of
the swamp and ate sux min who were standen close by. I
grebbed the crocodeale and wristled him to du ground
and killed em with my beer hends'
Hansie from Seth Efrika who typically can't stand to
be bettered said,
'Well you guys, I lended orfter a 200 mile flight in
my heng glider on a tiny trail, and a Namibian snike
slid out from under a rock and made a move on me. I
grebbed de borsted with me bare hinds and beet it's
head off ind then sucked the poison from it's body
down in one gulp. End I'm still here today'
John the Scotsman remained silent, slowly poking the
fire with his penis.

still keen for saturday although the forecast is for saturday (daytime) is to be ok with strong wind rain and snow coming in from the SW at dusk. could be quite fun although an earlier start may pay off if the forecast remains. sunday looks bad
