I've just got back from a weekend in the Highlands, and there's loads of snow! Some folk mentioned that they may be interested in a snowholing trip some time this winter. Well, who'd be up for it this weekend? I'm thinking of the wee corrie I snowholed out in before, and maybe doing a Munro before heading back down on the Sunday morning. Possibly Ben Macdui or Cairngorm.

Anyone interested?

Iain.

In principal I would love to come Ian, but the reality is that this weekend I will probably stripping wallpaper, tearing off skirting boards and plastering

But make sure you make a posting on here to let us know how you got on...if you don't freeze to death

Are you interested in the club meet the following week (6-7 Feb) at Milehouse, or will you be back off shore :?:

Can't believe you'd rather strip wallpaper than go out snowholing and hillwalking!

Afraid I'll be heading back to work on the Monday right after it, so unfortunately will be too busy packing etc. Otherwise I would have gone. Sorry!

Anyone else interested in snowholing?

Is snowholding as terrifyingly cold as it sounds? I don't think I have the equipment to survive such an expedition but I would like to go for a walk this weekend...maybe I could leave you in a snowhole and drive your car back to Glasgow for you? I've had all of 12 lessons now - I'm a real good driver 8)

Not a particularly helpful post I guess...

Snowholing is fine as long as it's a reasonably well constructed hole, it's not thawing, and no-one falls into it!

That's nothing to worry about! You won't sleep for more than an hour or two at a time anyway so there's loads of time to get up and clear the entrance!!! Honestly! It's great!

I'd honestly rather gouge my eyes out with hot spoons than go snowholing, but don't let my lack of enthusiasm put anyone off going on what will surely be a most intrepid trip. Oh and Cairngorms is a great place for it as they have the Poo Project, where one can pick up a recepticle at the Coire Cas car park and then use it for its intended purpose while enjoying the pleasures of snowholing. Then you can deposit it in the Poo Project tank before you leave. Just so much more fun than defecating in the woods.

Can I borrow your hot spoons then please, if you're not coming. They'd make digging in much easier!
