Met up with and Gail and Morven for lunch on Friday and commented that there was space. So Gail decided, finally, to come along. Morven was asked and was concerned she would miss Saturday Night Takeaway. So that was it: she was definitely coming too.
Who’s been to Badrallach before? Very posh for a Bothy with all sorts of designer touches (could have been the Valentine’s front room). Worth checking out if you haven’t.
As I’m on my Munro bagging finishing straight motivation levels were high for Am Faochagach. Much to my surprise Amy and Gordon were up for it. Gordon promised to carry Ruth’s rucksack so she grudgingly came along as well. Wee bit of difficulty getting Gordon’s car out onto the road but won’t embarrass him by saying why! To avoid the notorious river crossing decided to cycle up Strath Vaich; which was a doddle on a tarmac road. Set off up the hill in steady rain aware it was going to be pretty miserable. Shed Ruth and Gordon early on. Really wet under foot, loads of awkward snow filled hags and continued to rain steadily. Cleared up later and eventually could see the shape of the hills and a bit of blue sky which was an unexpected bonus. Route to the top was as steady an incline of any hill I’ve done.
Well pleased to get another one under my belt. Not sure Amy enjoyed it as much as I did but I was pleased to have company (I expected to be on my own). Only 8 more hill walking days to go.
Back to the hut for food and a game of Disney Trivial Pursuits.
Long, long drive home via snowy roads, wind and a jack knifed lorry on Sunday. A9 shut so had to go down the west coast. Girl’s seemed to have a good time.
Would go back to the Bothy or to camp.
Morven says ‘ It was good, fun, wet and, cold‘.

John

I think Morven's summary (AKA Orion Bothy book entry) is a much more colourful description of the weeend!
