I can`t put the update to the new version off any longer. It will be forced upon us in five days time.

I`m sure they will put us on the basic theme,so,no complaints about "not liking the colour etc;" until I can be bothered sorting it all out again

When this transfer happens some of you may have trouble logging on with your password. If this happens let me know and I`ll try and sort it out.
You may get a prompt to reset it,if so, that`s the way to go.

Alex: Reminder to check if any other sites have lost their site due to the transfer. If so, I agree that we should possibly get a hold of the database.

Could only find one and the odds are that`s probably his own mistake.

We will lose all the html though which means the hyperlinks and youtube stuff won`t work.Everything else should be transferred ok with the possible exception of the odd password needing reset.

The template will revert to boringly normal and I`ll get round to that when it happens...

We could fix the hyperlinks as and when we have time over the next month or so.

Fingers crossed :D

Will the photos that are embedded in the forum be alright :?:

Alex: $30 doesn't seem like much, or am I worrying unnecessarily :?: If you think it is a good idea to purchase the backup then you had a vote of 3/4 of the comittee last night voting to do so. Let me know if you think it wise.

Anyone else want to give their opinion on this :?:

Just on the principle that data doesn't really exist unless it's backed up I'd say that seems worth it. It'd be a real bummer to lose it all.

Good question regarding the photobucket pics. Have emailed them but won`t get an answer until tonight when they start work in San Francisco or somewhere out there.

I`m with Dom on the data backup. But,if the database comes with the photobucket pics replaced by text then I don`t think it`s worth it.Shall try and find out....they don`t start rolling it out until 1st June.

If the photos were linked from Photobucket using the " img " tag then they should be ok.

That should take care of the majority of them...

I don`t think Flickr like hotlinking .... they prefer a direct link back to Flickr.

Have noticed on forums, with a lot more traffic than ours admittedly, that photos hotlinked from Flickr are replaced after a few days by a space saying why...

I use the same system as Photobucket - link to the img file, but make the picture into a hyperlink back to Flickr. I think that satisfies their T&Cs.
