The next pre-arranged club outing on the calendar is the BBQ, which is scheduled to take place on the 25th of July.
First, has anyone got any ideas for a venue The only constraint being that any proposals be at most around 2.5hrs drive from Glasgow, as traditionally most folk only come along for the one night.
Secondly, it would be ideal to get a handle on who can make that date. We really need a good turn out for the BBQ to be successful. Last year we had an impressive turn out and aside from the midgies it was a good night. I mention this as I already know of a few folk who can’t make that date, me included…the Valentines will be in Islay with Gavin and Edi. I think there are also some other folk busy that weekend
So could everyone let me know, one way or another, if they intend coming or not, and in the event that the numbers are low we can think about changing the date.
It's a wee bit near to my due date, so unless we are camping within spitting distance of the Southern General Hospital, I guess I'm out for this year. Will annoy you all at BBQ next year with a small child.

There seems to be a lack of interest for a bbq this year, so unfortunately it looks like it will be cancelled unless we have a sudden rush of folk wanting to come
This is a great shame considering the large turn out we had last year
Anyway, I am off down to Yorkshire on Saturday for a week followed by five days in Islay , so come the weekend I will not be able to get involved in organising anything for the 25th.
It could be postponed until later in the summer, but remember we still have two outstanding dates on the summer meets calendar…the cycle meet (August) and the Lake District meet (September)…so it may prove difficult to fit it in at a later date
Graham and I were talking about this in the pub last week and we thought it would be better delayed until later. What about changing it to the cycle tour of Arran weekend or some other time
That means Gav and yourself have an excuse for some bigtime swally
Scott, In your email I thought you were suggesting Sunday 19th -Monday 20th July as an alternative?? It is a bank holiday - I might be up for that. It is next weekend though?
Alternatively, like Alex says, we could just take BBQ's/families to Arran in August or the Lake District in September?

Nope, I didn't make mention of any alternative dates. I only suggested that it could possibly be postponed.
As for Arran, it is down as a just a day shot for a cycle round the island, although anyone wanting to go for the whole weekend can obviously do so. Also, judging by the summer meets so far I am not entirely confident that the Lake District meet will have any great interest. Mind you I fully intend to be down there anyway.
Furthermore it is probably better to have the bbq somewhere which is not too distant. This will encourage more folk to come as those that can only get away for one night will be able to make it. This rules out the Lakes.
Also arranging anything is becoming nearly impossible...actually only 4 folk replied to the forum/club email re. the bbq. The other 2 I just happened to know were away at that time. What doesn't help is that not many folk come into the pub anymore
Hi guys, sorry to be so late with posting on this topic. I think that it would be a great shame not to have a bbq as it is usually a great event! Especially as I am on the loose on the mainland!!! Anyway, hope to catch up with you guys tonight as I am ona day off from the Hill.

Good to see you back on the forum Roddie
Sorry I would have missed you at the pub, but I was down in Yorkshire for the week with the wife and bairns. We're heading over to Islay tomorrow to meet up with Gavin and Edi, and won't be back until Saturday...so if you were intending to pop in this Thursday I'll mis you again
This `ere beach would be a cracker for the barbecue and it`s only a 2 hour drive away.Have camped there quite a few times in the past. You can drive right down to it along a land rover track albeit one with no passing places and a big drop on the side Fearties can leave their car further up the road
It`s in Galloway though so I suspect you lot wouldn`t be interested.Probably too late for this year as well
