Apologies for the graininess on this but it`s a huge zoom in to a slide.

Joe Brown`s classic Right Unconquerable at Stanage sometime in the 90`s.Can`t remember the grade offhand but it was desperate jamming. Look at Gordon`s face...tells it all :D

Not the only one who was young either.

Here`s a shot from the days when we were hardcore :D

Heavy denim jeans and a jersey in the depths of a Cairngorm winter

Yeah, when I started out it was Italian Army surplus trousers, a pilot jacket, wool jumpers, a cagoule that I also wore on my paper round and DM's on my feet, although these got replaced rather quickly with a pair of second hand scabby hiking boots after the DM's blistered my feet

The only decent bit of kit I had was the Karrimor Condor, Karrimor's flagship backpacking sack :D

When I was 18 I received a large cash donation from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board :D First thing I bought with this dosh was my first car, second thing was a pair of crampons. I was almost laughed out of Nevisport when I asked them for crampons which would fit those scabby boots  Ended up leaving the shop with not only a nice new pair of crampons, but also a pair of Koflach Viva Soft plastic boots...what an upgrade
