At the AGM it was decided to try and supplement the winter meets with a programme of official meets during the summer months. The first of these is only two and a half weeks away and as posted on the Club web site is to take place as a camping meet in Glen Brittle, Skye between 23-25 May (holiday weekend)
For the uninitiated this is one of the best places that you can base yourself in order to experience the Black Cuillin, whether climbing, scrambling or walking. It can equally be used as base for exploring other parts of the island e.g. the Red Hills, The Storr, The Quirang or some of the fantastic coastal scenery.
Surprisingly, so far not too many members have registered their interest Can anyone who wants to go please sign up here and that way it might encourage others to commit to going.
Unfortunately, I will be unable to go as I am going camping elsewhere with the wife and weans.

Would love to, but a friend has decided to get married right in the middle of that weekend. See these conformists! So I'll be wearing a dress and girly shoes that weekend in lieu of my usual boots, baggy breeks and fleece. There's not even going to be any talent at the wedding. Why am I going? Please talk me out of it!
I am probably going on this one, would like to do the whole ridge in two days witha bivvy on the top.
Tosca, are you crazy? You, wearing a dress? Cmoan it's not natural! Most weddings you get to speak to the bride/groom for about 5 minutes and the rest of the time is spent loitering and bevvying. You could set up a quick video call from the summit of Sgurr a'Mhadaidh to the same effect.

Aaaargh, that's what I wannae do and as I have said I can't make it that weekend You would think as Meets Secretary I would have organised it for a weekend that I was available
Jules, on the off chance that you can't make it up to Skye that weekend keep me in mind for a ridge traverse over two days later in the summer.
Argh! there are so many things I want to do that weekend!!!
Sadly I think I am committed to a trip with Calum's mum for a family bonding hillwalk - can't remember where but I don't think it's negotiable - will look into it though.

Rob and I would really like to come and get to know some of you better than it is possible to do in the pub! We both did the ridge traverse last year but are keen to get some climbing on the Cuillin or on the coast depending on the weather. We are having transport problems however. We don't have a car available to us that weekend. Can anyone else offer us a couple of spaces in a car (or even two spaces in two separate cars)? We will of course pay our share of petrol money. Failing that, we will look into renting a car for the weekend, but would be keen to share the cost with anyone else having transport problems. Drop me an email (crouch dot k at gmail dot com replace "dot" and "at" with appropriate symbols and remove spaces!) or post on here if you can help us out!
1. Andy wants to go as well, I believe. I am transmittor in this case due to non-forum access+non-pub appearance.
2. Kathryn: Dont worry, there are enough cars about and there will be spaces. Julian is usually a very good car coordinator and I am sure he will sort us out to make most economical travel arrangement. I dont think you need to worry about a hire car...(I have assumed your offer to organise the weekend stands, Julian)
3. Julian: I want to do the 2day traverse incl. bivvy, and Neil does too.
What does one require for bivvying on a ridge anyway? And where would one bivvy? Is it proposed to do the ridge from south to north? Are folks taking harnesses and a rope etc?
