Dinna be cheeky about poor old Spirito, it has done over 100,000 miles with few complaints until these last few months. Once the thermostat is sorted, or maybe the radiator, it will be good for another few thousand I'm sure.

Graham has mailed me to let me know that the key will be sent to me. Therefore I suppose this means that this meet will be the first that I am responsible for as the new Meets Secretary
It would appear that folk definetly wanting to go are...
Alex
Gordy
Martine
Julian
Adam
Alistair
Maybes ayes, maybes nos...
John
Bob
Unfortunately I can't make it
So who wants the key. Alex it would appear that you'll be there first, do you want it And could you or the Prez collect the dosh
OK.....Gordon,Martine and myself are heading off from Blantyre at 3pm on Friday afternoon.
Alistair,I`ve got the key here.If you are still heading up we`ll be stopping at the chip shop in Ullapool at about 7.45 to 8.00 pm for a haggis supper.ETA for Elphin 8.30 to 9.00pm.
Of course we must respect the long-standing Orion tradition of going to the chipper on Friday, however as my family have only been in this country for 4 generations, I have yet to develop the ability to ingest haggis suppers. We were always ice cream Italians, not fish & chips Italians, so I could probably eat a double nougat washed down with an Irn Bru ice-cream drink for my dinner nae bother. Ok, maybe some chips as well.
Just found this topic on the forum. My plan as i understand it is to head straight up after work from Wishaw. I think im going to split the driving with Julian. I wont be able to leave work ie Wishaw until 4.30 at the earliest probably. Im just going to email Julian but i guess the plan would be him to pick him up straight away and then head North. If anyone else wants a lift no probs. Also if you're fully comp on you car then you could even have the pleasure of sharing the driving
Also does anyone have the OS grip ref of the hut. So i can work out how to go although im sure Julian knows, but so i can have a look at what fun is to be had out and about. Trying to be more proactive

The clubbing scene in Elphin isn`t up to much I`m afraid. In fact there isn`t one.Same goes for the local bars..in fact, there aren`t any.......the nearest one is 5 miles away usually with a drunken fisherman talking crap. The last cinema ,the one at Ledmore Junction, closed it`s doors way back in the early 70`s.
There are however a few no bad hills in the vicinity
Ach well Alex i know you like a good boggie...i have videos to prove it
Er the grid reference you gave me...unless ive completely forgot my OS map reading skills (which is likely) puts the hill on the side of quite a steep slope. And there's no hut on there either. Any ideas? Sorry to be a pain. Where abouts is it from loch assynt? Top middle or bottom.
You get to Ullapool (which will appear to be a throbbing metropolis in the surronding wildnerness - wake Julian up at this point), and then you take a right up onto the A 835 and you keep going straight on until you get to Elphin. The road is fairly steep up then steep down, but it's a good road, not single track. Check out the SMC website which has more details of grid ref.
Thankfully Spirito is not attempting this journey. And it's not heated rear windows we'll need, although if you look at the forecast, a snowplough attachment may come in handy.
