I'm off to another gig tonight so unfortunately not going to make it down to the pub. I am free from Saturday 2pm onwards so would be up for a bothy on Saturday night or a walk somewhere on Sunday - if anyone else fancies it?

Adam and I, and possibly one of Adam's flatmates, are planning to go a bothy trip tomorrow (Saturday). Anyone wish to join us (Gordon)? The older and wiser heads* in the pub last night have recommended 2 bothies in the Roy Bridge area. We are planning to drive up from Glasgow around 4pm.

*I feel I must comment on the palpable frenzy of enthusiastic suggestions for bothies brought forth by the older and wiser heads. Smiles broke out, eyes gleamed (or was that the drink?), stories of old were aired once more, mostly involving tricking 15 year-old boy scouts into giving old climbers their beer, and complex debates were started to assess whether proximity to hills or scenic location maketh the best bothy. Scott even ran to his car to get an OS map out, which was duly laid out on the table, pints pushed to the side, and fingers gnarled by years of climbing traced out access points and locations. A topic for further debates, I hope.

Don`t fancy the Roy Bridge area too much.I`ve been up glen Roy 3 times since last summer.

I`d definitely be interested in a trip to A`Chuill next weekend though...... :D

We were leaning more to the Lairig Leacach side, actually. Then we have a choice of corbetts or munros.

Location: awa' up the hill
it's a good bothy, Martine. A moderately long, but very easy walk in, and in a nice location :)

But it is small with only one reasonably small room downstairs and a wee sleeping area up the ladder. Good fire though :)

Go to the bothy section on the club gallery for a pic of the outside http://orionmountaineeringclub.smugmug. ... #263683432
