In my opinion it is also handy for public transport and would appear to have good beer. From a female perspective Nicky said last week she liked the place.
By the way I need to let a new prospective member (Paul Armstrong) know which pub we are going to as he wants to come down this Thursday.
Suggest we meet again their this Thursday unlee we have a better plan?

I would like to throw The State Bar, Holland Street into the ring.
Excellent pub which attracts all sorts of different types from students, to business men, to folk who call it their local. No loud music, good beer, atmospheric without being overly busy. Parking is good.
Oh, and if you look up a review and wonder about the stand up comedy, don't worry that's downstairs.
I would be up for trying the state bar but generally thought that area of town was a bit far away from Central/Argyle St and Julian, Alex and John's bus routes?
I think wherever we go we should decide today - incase people can't get access to computers etc tomorrow. Pot Still this week where we could talk about the State bar?
Silke and I are going mountain biking in Carron Valley staight from work tomorrow night. If anyone want to join us let me know.
Right where are we going tomorrow night. Can I suggest we try somehwere new? Lauders, Ironhorse, Printworks or State, don't nind I would just like to see more bars before we put down roots.

My opinions for what they are worth...
I suggested three of them including Lauders, but have reservations about this one after talking to others. The other two were The Iron Horse...don't really know it, just thought it a possibility, and The State Bar which I rate as a good pub for the club although it's a long time since I've been in there.
I had a quick look round The Iron Horse a few weeks ago. It is a basic traditional establishment, without the sawdust. The barstaff were pleasant and said that we would be welcome on Thursdays (pubspeak for,we are desperate to get more people in )Sorry I forgot to ask the cost of a pint Andy
I had a look into the Ironhorse on the way down to the pot still last thursday. It seemed to be full of TV's showing sport. Not sure if this is what we want? Tonight, inparticular, it will probably be showing the Celtic game - although it is a 6pm kick off?. Maybe we just go to the state bar tonight?
We need to decide ASAP and send an email out to all those who don't check the forum.

Well The State bar seemed to be pretty successful last night Personally I think it is the best pub we have tried by far, right down to the 60’s soul and R&B they played most of the night
The four others who were in last night (Gavin, John, Andy, Gordon) all seemed to like it as well.
It was a little busy, but the barman said that it was usually quieter…football earlier in the evening and in particular a lot of students, due to some of them just starting back, contributed to a large portion of the clientele.
Think we decided to meet there again next week in order to let others come along and try it out.
Oh, and there was a new guy in last night called Paul…seemed like a decent bloke, young and very enthusiastic to get out climbing, hillwalking and even fell running Expect him on the forum. He works up a Tiso’s…cheap gear
