The Cooncil have decided that the beer garden is a "public place" and as such they want to stop honest citizens having a swally out there of an evening. Scotia/Viccy bar lawyers have agreed to close it temporarily at 10pm until some sort of agreement is reached with the council regarding this matter.
Personally I don`t think the pub owner will win.
Last night we were evicted at 10 pm and had to go in to the Clutha. The decibel count was such that conversation was a waste of time and we spent most of the night standing outside in the street.
We need a new pub...pronto
Laurie`s bar diagonally across the car park might be worth a try.Anybody got any other suggestions
The pub we meet in somewhat defeats the whole purpose of having a weekly catch up in a pub. The club needs a pub where folks can sit and chat and get to know each other and organise our walking or climbing trips. We can't even sit or talk in the Clutha at present!
I know it will be ages before I am down the pub again, due to the callings of motherhood, but I would opt for taking the chance as a club and finding a new pub.
Ps it was nice to see so many folk and catch up on Thursday, albeit briefly and over the din of the entertainment!
I was in Babbity Bowsters (16–18 Blackfriars Street, Glasgow) last night for a couple.
....a good Scottish pub, central, nice beers, car parking, no live music on a Thursday (I don't think), great beer garden......... any takers???

Sounds worth a try. I`m not sure if I can make it this coming Thursday though.
Any volunteers to give it a visit on Thursday We need to do something I think even if it is only short term until the Vicky/Clutha sort themselves out. I don`t think we`re going to see the Vicky bar opened on Thursdays again and I don`t fancy sitting outside during the coming winter anyway. In fact winter seems to have arrived today Just in time for Scott`s holiday on Islay it seems

Maybe a good option Gordon.
If you need any drinking input I can help, but not until Aug 17th!!! Work gets in the way of so many things.
I'd be up for Babbity Bowsers if my vote counts for anything!! Are we meeting there this Thursday then? If so, what's it near because I'm not that hot when it comes trendy pubs and the like!!
Hi Folks, I'd be up for Babbity Bowsers if my vote counts for anything!! Are we meeting there this Thursday then? If so, what's it near because I'm not that hot when it comes trendy pubs and the like!! Iain.
I`ll definitely not be in tonight Iain. At a guess I`d think folk will still go to the Clutha unless you hear something else....
Mmmm, Babbity's does some very nice beers!! I have spent some nice nights in there in years gone by.
I checked out Alex's suggestion of Laurie's bar online - I liked the owner Cy Laurie's jingle.
Maybe you lot who still go drinking could sort out a wee August pub crawl programme - a different bar each week for a month on Thursdays - and then you can vote on which was the nicest.
Only Andy, Iain and myself in Scotch Corner last night.
I was thinking it may be better to agree what pubs we wish to try and on what night, so folks sdon't go to wrong pub. We do need some action on this. So far the shortlist comprises of Lauries and Babbity Bowsers, do we therefore try Lauries next week and BB the following Thursday?
I`d be happy trying Babbity`s and Laurie`s over the next two weeks to see. Scott will be back over the weekend and we`ll see what he thinks. Can`t remember who exactly is on the committee but if they can decide a course of action over the next few days we can try and let everybody know in time.
Scott and Gavin were up the Paps of Jura yesterday.Long day on the hill which they then extended by going back over to Islay and walking in to An Cladach bothy. Evil sods phoned me up this morning form the bothy
On the brighter side they are heavily laden down with ticks as the walk in was through waist high bracken

Not too bad ... Scott only imagined it in his paranoia!
I ended up with a total of 12 ticks and some other big swollen sore bites presumably from the zillion or so clegs that ambushed us on the walk in to the Paps
