| Post subject: | Who wants to go on Summer Solstice Meet? (20 June 2009) |
We are now into June and the next official meet on the calendar is the summer solstice camping meet. Last year we had planned to camp on the west ridge of Sgorr Dhonuill on Beinn a’Bheithir, beside the lochan at spot height 758m, grid ref NN 033578. However, the weather didn’t play ball and we ended up going to Glensulaig bothy instead. So if a high camp is the preference again this year maybe we should try again for the same location on Beinn a’Bheithir? The views westward from here towards the setting sun would be spectacular. Next day we can traverse the mountain on the way back down. Any suggestions for alternative venues are welcome. |

I'm hoping to be in the Braemar/Splttal of Glenshee areas around about then. In true Orion tradition I could of course change my plans. |

All, i am up for this outing. My preference is to camp/bivi at the location proposed by Scott. I can provide transport for 3 or 4 people, but would be looking to travel up late afternoon and return to glasgow in the morning after the camp. Interested Gavin? sure we can call up some bad weather.. oh forgot this isn't the winter solstice camp. Later, Jon |

Could be tempted. Mind you, I might be too weak to carry both wine and a tent! Having said that, if you've got enough on one, you generally don't need the other! |

If this is the case, maybe we shouldn't limit ourselves to the West highlands? We could go East or South? The Lake district seems to have a decent forcast? .....I assume we will just wait and see what the forcast develops. I am up for it - regardless. |

I'd be free to go anytime from lunchtime on saturday. As to the weather I agree with Gordon perhaps we should consider going east. |
